The Tote differs from the traditional bookmakers in that the Tote offers pool betting. This means that you are betting into a common pool, betting against others in the pool as opposed to just a bookmaker. Hence, the prices will fluctuate according to the number of interest in a particular horse.
Also, the Tote's odds are displayed as decimals whilst the bookmakers display them as fractional odds. Decimal odds simply mean that your stake is included in your return amount. This in fact makes it easier for you to to calculate your winnings. For example if you place a €10 Win bet on a horse that is displaying a Tote price of €8.30 and the horse wins, you will be paid €83.
